There are a number different types of trips we've been on, but here is a generic packing list I've made for my 10-14 day backpacking trips in Europe. It can be edited for any type of adventure you are embarking on next!
Bags to bring:
Backpacking backpack (to check)
Carry on- small weekender duffel bag
Day pack- small backpack or larger cross body purse
Wallet/clutch with only necessities and card holder
What to wear:
layers- tank, short sleeve or long sleeve, sweat shirt, leggings, tennis shoes or bulkiest pair of shoes
Carry on essentials:

Padlock/key
Adapter
Carry on bathroom stuff: toothbrush/paste, contact solution/case, face wipes, hand sanitizer, tissues, chapstick, perfume

Packing cubes/small bags- to help pack and separate clothes
Bring small garment bag to throw dirty socks/underwear in after worn
Throw dryer sheets into bags to keep clothes smelling fresh
Add anything for specific trips:
Hiking trip: day pack, camel back, hiking boots, more active wear
Colder climates: boots, warmer jacket, mittens, warm headband, more pants/sweaters than shorts/dresses
Customize the list for your individual needs and trip specifics. Hope this helps for all those last minute packers like myself!
